Nov 16, 2016 The first person to join after that will be super admin by default. If you are running your server through the Host Game button in the main menu, you will have to go into Steam, right click on Interstellar Rift and under properties set launch options. Add '-console' (without quotes).
Index: The Console is opened by pressing the key, and gives access to various commands from switching world gamemode type, to debug commands, to other creative options. Commands may require elevated permissions in order to use them, these commands are marked as being a GameMaster, Admin, or Moderator command.Note, that about half of these are personal (ie. The player that executes it, is who it interacts with), these are mostly the ones changing things with the player, rather than envoirenment.
Time for another experimental update! This one is a bit smaller than usual but that's because we have some bigger things in the pipeline that just aren't finished yet. But without further ado, onto the patch! This week we are adding PvE mode, Footstep sounds, and a new fly camera in the ship editor! That means that you are finally able to set your server up in a way that is more forgiving to players who just want to build and explore. In addition both male an female characters have footstep sounds mean you should hear yourself, and others, walking around you. And finally we’ve given you the ability to toggle a flycam in the ship editor which should allow you to get a better view of your ship while you’re building. It should make editing your ships hull quite a bit easier. And ofcourse we have a new round of bug fixes and stability changes. For full patch notes, and to leave feedback, see here:Instructions on how to join the experimental branch can be found here:Thank you all for playing and see you starside!-The Split Polygon Team.
Trading cards, escape pods, deathstates, oh my! The new next patch is ready for primetime! Introducing the ship deathstate, dropping your inventory on death, Steam Trading cards, Discord rich presence, and a lot more.Ship deathstate, the escape pod and the dropping of the player inventory are closely tied together.
And we had to make sure all 3 were done before we could implement any one of them into the game. But it's all here now so Enjoy! The Ship deathstate is there to give players a chance to grab their valuables and escape. But how do you escape a burning ship you ask? Why I’m glad you asked, because from now on you will be able to escape using the new escape pod! This new device can be placed on the side of your ship, and can be launched at any time!
Once launched players will be able to fly to safety for a brief period. Escape pods can warp away quickly once launched. Additionally once you’ve gotten away you can salvage the escape pod for some resources that will help you get on your way again. But since players now drop their inventory on death, players will now have more options to save themselves from the destruction of their ship.
When you die a holographic projector droid is spawned on your position, containing all the stuff in your inventory, resources and tools. These little droids stay around for five minutes, after which they simply disappear. The ship deathstate will last longer the bigger your ship is. Which means there will be an opportunity for the attackers to raid large ships once they have destroyed them. But there is more as well.
We’ve added in discord integration into the game. Which means you can now join your friends through discord and see what they are doing in their name tags. And we’re also adding Steam trading cards to the game for you to collect and enjoy, these should be dropping as of posting this. For all the details on the changes we made, please see the link to the patch notes below. It will go into detail about the new escape pods, all the bug fixes, and some of the optimizations we’ve done this patch. As always, we’d appreciate any feedback you’re willing to provide, it will only help us make the game better. We have also set up a public discord server which you can join!Feel free to drop by and have a chat, we’d love to hear your opinion and feedback!Thank you all for playing and see you starside!-The Split Polygon Team. This weeks experimental patch brings some much needed goodies, such as the new ship death state, escape pods, player inventory drop on death, and Discord rich presence integration.First up the new ship death state. When a ships hull reaches 0% health, the ship will no longer blow up instantly. The ship will enter a brief period in which it ceases to function, and random explosions will rock the ship.
This is called the death state, during this period players will have the opportunity to gather what resources they want to save from their cargo hold, and use the escape pod to make a run for it.Once the deathstate is over the ship will explode. And anyone onboard will be killed.
Which now means that the inventories of those players will be destroyed along with them. Hence why players will now need to use escape pods or other means of escape, if they wish to keep their inventories. In addition if a player kills another player, a small device with the contents of their inventories will drop above their corpse allowing other players to loot their inventories, inventories will last for 5 minutes, after which they will despawn.Escape pods will allow players to save themselves and their items from being lost when their ship gets destroyed.
If a ship is equipped with an escape pod, players players will have a reliable way to escape a destroyed ship. Players can launch them by simply walking into them getting behind the controls and clicking the launch button. This will close the doors and teleport the pod away from the ship.
Once launched players will have power to fly around for a brief period at maximum warp. The pod is not equipped with weapons and it is lightly armored so running away is your best option. Once you have reached safety, you will be able to salvage the escape pod for roughly 130k U-Nits worth of resources. The pod cannot be refueled once depleted. In addition pods can also be launched when the ship is in a death state, (a ship cannot move while in death state), and they can be replenished by purchasing them from HydroPEX service stations or Store-O-Tron kiosks. For full patch notes, and to leave feedback, see here:Instructions on how to join the experimental branch can be found here:Thank you all for playing and see you starside!-The Split Polygon Team.
Time for another Interstellar Rift update! After simmering in the experimental branch for a little while, this new update featuring drone automation, and the new Medium Rift Generator, is ready for prime time. The new Medium Rift Generator works very similarly to the small and large rift generator, but it is able to send ships through rifts with a mass rating up to 1 million.
Meaning that it can only use regular Xanthium and Di-Xanthium. This is ideal for medium ships or small ships that wish to be able to use the same rift multiple times. In addition we are also adding automation options to the heavy drones. This will allow you to put drones to work by sending them out to gather resources, return, automatically unload their goods, and then go out again. It also allows the drones to automatically respond if the ship is attacked. Meaning they will launch by themselves, and attack anything that is attacking the ship.Of course you will be able to cancel their commands, and retrieve them before their programming is up.
The cartridges required for these automation functionalities can be made in the 3D Printer, or bought at stores that happen to sell them. We’ve also made some changes to the point defense drones that players can deploy, from now on they require drone components, and when first created they will be empty. Meaning that players will now need to add ammo to the drone.
Ammo can be added in the assembling machine, which also allows you to create drones that come with a full magazine by including the ammunition with the rest of the resources. For the time being point defense drones can only use standard ammo.As always, we’d appreciate any feedback you’re willing to provide, it will only help us make the game better. We have also set up a public discord server which you can join!Feel free to drop by and have a chat, we’d love to hear your opinion and feedback!Thank you all for playing and see you starside!-The Split Polygon Team. GRAPHICS- added indicators for device inputs/outputs in editor- all props with both an interior and exterior part now show properly in the editor- delete key can now also be used to delete in-game mails- added damage particle nodes for small, medium, large and extra large fuel tanks- added damage particle nodes for Drone bay- scout system event marker now changes to green if the player is in scan range and their scanners are turned on- scout system event marker now changes to orange if the player is in scan range and they have no scanners or scanners are turned off. BALANCE- destroying drones in drone bay now returns part of the resources based on drone damage- changed point defense drone recipe to include drone parts and bullets- indestructible drifter entities no longer shoot at s3 entities (fixed Black pit firing at S3 Defense drones)- increased player-deployed defense drone projectile speed to 750, from 500- decreased player-deployed defense drone projectile spread to 5, from 10- increased player-deployed defense drone projectile base damage to 20, from 10. Happy new year everyone!
Kicking things off in 2018 we are bringing you another experimental patch. This one features some new system events, drone bay automation and a lot of bug fixes. The drone bay automation will let you automatically empty the drone cargo bay, for example, and respond to attacks.
This system will get a few more update before it goes live, so stay tuned and let us know what you think. As for the system events, HydroPEX, Vaultron, and LogiCorp have now entered the real estate market, and you will now be able to build their stations as well in your system. We have also made some slight changes to the existing events, and hope to bring more diversity to them soon. For full patch notes, and to leave feedback, see here:Instructions on how to join the experimental branch can be found here:Thank you all for playing and see you starside!-The Split Polygon Team.
